It can be said that Paros is Mykonos without the partying and at more reasonable prices (although it has become more expensive in the last few years). Combined with the smaller neighbor Antiparos (a 10-minute ferry ride away, departing from the port of Pounta), it offers one of the best Greek island experiences. It has a variety of beaches for all tastes, and beautiful villages with the traditional Cycladic architecture. Parikia or Chora is the main town, but for the best beaches and restaurants you probably want to stay in the village of Naoussa to the north.
Buses take you around the island, and there are good ferry connections to Athens (Piraeus) and to other islands.
