Popular with families with children and with those who enjoy water sports (especially windsurfing), this beach is on the eastern side of the island. As it’s away from the more touristy beaches, it remains less developed, but it has a few hotels (see below) and restaurants.
There are some rocks by the water’s edge, but once past them, it’s great for swimming.
The smaller beach of Agia Anna is just a short walk away.
How to Get to Kalafatis Beach
Kalafatis is 25 minutes by car from Mykonos Town. There’s also a bus service departing from the Old Port.

Anemoessa Mykonos Hotel
With its family suites and large swimming pool, this boutique hotel is a good choice for families, but couples will also enjoy the calm location and the well-designed rooms just a short walk from the beach. The building, and even part of the décor, follows the Cycladic tradition, and includes a charming chapel. There are sea views from the pool and common areas, as well as from some of the rooms. There is also a playground, a bar and a restaurant.
La Residence Mykonos
This elegant hotel mixes a classic and contemporary style, creating a romantic atmosphere that’s perfect for honeymooning couples. There are suites with sea views and private pools, an attractive all-white exterior with a large pool, and a good restaurant. For more relaxing moments there are the services of the spa, and a bar serving cocktails and other drinks.
VLIA Mykonian Residences
This property faces the sea and is a short walk from the beach. It’s made up of apartments accommodating between two and six people, and most of them have a sea view. They’re equipped with a kitchen where guests prepare their meals, which can be enjoyed outside on the terrace or patio.
The Wild Hotel
Kalafatis is nearby, but this tastefully-designed hotel also has its own private beach. There are sea views from most of the rooms and the infinity pool. It’s a hotel for relaxation, away from the crowds, and for extra pampering there is a variety of treatments at the spa.
